Water Resources and Supply for Irrigation

The ever-growing demands for water resources pose significant challenges on strategies for their management and systems of governance. INECON has undertaken several studies in this area where it has devised schemes for integrated management of water resources at the basin level, as well as options for private-sector participation in financing, building, and operating irrigation works.

In this context, INECON has:

  • Developed and proposed arrangements for integrated management of river basins;
  • Reviewed the operation of water rights markets and proposed plans for their improvement;
  • Formulated and applied methodologies for determining the economic value of water resources; for assessing the willingness to pay for water resources by different user types; and for water rights valuation and pricing.
